Planning for college begins long before senior year. This informative workshop is designed specifically for students with autism and their families to help navigate the college planning process with confidence, starting as early as ninth grade.
Participants will receive a comprehensive grade-by-grade roadmap outlining what students should focus on during each year of high school—from building academic success and exploring careers to preparing for college applications and making informed postsecondary decisions.
Topics include:
A Grades 9–12 College Planning Timeline with recommended activities for each year of high schoolExploring college options, including Florida colleges, universities, and the Florida College SystemUnderstanding the college application process, including the Common Application (Common App) and application timelinesFinancial planning for college, including: Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), Understanding Bright Futures Scholarships and eligibility requirements and Florida resident tuition and strategies to reduce college costsDisability Services in college, including accommodations.Whether your student is just entering high school or preparing for graduation, this workshop will provide practical guidance, trusted resources, and a clear roadmap to help families make informed decisions and confidently prepare for the transition to postsecondary education.
